Stablecoin Cards: How Do the Options Compare?

Can you use the USDC or USDT you already hold to pay for everyday things? A stablecoin card makes that possible without asking the shop to accept crypto. Here’s how KAST, RedotPay, MetaMask Card and ether.fi Cash turn your balance into spending money—and where they differ.

How does a stablecoin become a card payment?

You hold stablecoins; the shop receives a normal card payment. The card service connects the two. Some providers convert your deposit into a cash balance first. Others use your crypto when you pay.

  1. Choose a card available to you and a token/network it supports.
  2. Fund the account or authorize spending from your wallet, depending on the card.
  3. Pay with the card; the service handles the conversion or settlement.
Details and conditions
  • Borrowing is a different option: the purchase creates a loan backed by your assets. It does not spend those assets directly, and interest and liquidation risk come with it.

How we use stablecoins day to day

MoneyQuest Team: our usual routine is to send USDT or USDC from Binance or a hot wallet, choosing the cheapest network supported at both ends. Then we spend through Apple Pay or use the card online. That is the practical job we want a card to do.

Four cards, four ways to use your balance

KAST and RedotPay use a card account. MetaMask Card can spend from your wallet. ether.fi Cash lets you choose between spending an eligible balance and borrowing against assets. Start with how you want to use your money.

How your payment is funded
CardWhat happens to your moneyWhat to understand
KASTSupported stablecoin deposits become a USD balance. You spend the balance held with the provider.
RedotPayCrypto is converted when you pay.Its USD card lists a 1% crypto conversion fee.
MetaMask CardYou approve spending from a supported wallet account.Regional access differs; US signup is currently waitlisted. Metal is closed to new users.
ether.fi CashDirect Pay spends eligible balances; Borrow creates debt.Check the selected mode before paying.
Details and conditions
  • RedotPay separates card-issuance restrictions from delivery restrictions. Check both before funding; absence from an exclusion list is not an approval.
  • MetaMask’s US funding guide describes wallet spending authorizations. Check your region’s documentation and signup status.
  • ether.fi Cash offers Direct Pay from eligible balances and Borrow mode against collateral. Its country page distinguishes eligibility from physical delivery.

Choose the token and network before sending

USDC on one blockchain is not interchangeable with every USDC deposit option. Open the card’s deposit screen and match both the token and network before sending. A supported deposit does not guarantee withdrawals on that same network.

Details and conditions
  • A stablecoin also has its own risks. Circle describes possible USDC price variation and address blocking. Wallet control and a familiar dollar symbol do not remove those dependencies.

Compare the cost of the purchases you make

On an ordinary $100 USD purchase, KAST’s listed purchase fee is $0; RedotPay’s USD-default card adds $1 in crypto conversion. Spending in another currency adds the applicable FX charge. That is separate from the network fee for transferring stablecoins. Compare deposit, purchase and ATM fees.

Details and conditions
  • Apply reward caps and exclusions to the purchases you already make. Keep cash, points and expiring credits separate. A larger headline percentage does not necessarily leave more money in your pocket.
  • MetaMask lists $0 annually for Free and $199 for existing Metal accounts; Metal is closed to new users. Token, ATM and cross-border fees can apply in addition to variable network gas. Use your account’s fee schedule.

Before you make it your everyday card

Once you qualify, start with a small supported deposit and purchase. Find the refund and withdrawal controls before moving a larger balance, and keep another payment method available.

Details and conditions
  • The legacy Gnosis Pay card is scheduled to stop on 20 December 2026. We have excluded it as a new-card option. Any partner program needs a separate review of terms and access.
